Ruby Rose Lang, a student from Carrigallen National School, has won the County Leitrim Eason Spelling Bee. After a tough competition with three other participants, Ruby emerged as the winner, earning her spot in the Provincial Spelling Bee set for May.
Ruby, a passionate reader of Dork Diaries, impressed the judges with her spelling skills and will now represent County Leitrim at the next level of the competition.
Lisa O’Brien, Group Head of E-Commerce and Marketing at Eason, commented: “We are delighted to launch the 2025 Eason Spelling Bee with such talented children participating in County Leitrim. They are a testament to the bright young minds of Ireland. We are confident that this year we will build on the success of 2024 and inspire communities to support their local schools and, especially, their spelling bees!”
The Eason Spelling Bee, now in its 12th year, aims to encourage young students across Ireland to develop their spelling and vocabulary. This year, over 450 schools are participating, with the winner of the All-Ireland final receiving books worth €7,500 for their school library, as well as a €500 book goodie bag.
Next up for Ruby is the Provincial Spelling Bee in May, followed by the All-Ireland Final in June. The road to becoming the 2025 Eason Spelling Bee Champion is heating up!
