Recognising young changemakers who go the extra mile in their communities

Garda Youth Awards 2025 now open for nominations in Sligo and Leitrim

Do you know a young person who’s making a real difference in their community? Now’s your chance to shine a spotlight on them.

An Garda Síochána Sligo/Leitrim, in partnership with credit unions across the region, has officially launched the 2025 Garda Youth Awards. The awards celebrate the inspirational efforts of young people who go above and beyond to help others — whether at school, home, or within the wider community.

From volunteers to everyday heroes, the Gardaí want to hear about young individuals aged 13 to 21 who are making a positive impact. This year’s awards will also include a special category for children under 13, ensuring that even the youngest changemakers get their moment of recognition.

Nominations are open to the public and can be submitted by anyone — family, friends, teachers, neighbours — anyone who sees the value in a young person’s contribution. The award categories include Individual, Group, Special Achievement, and Community Safety.

If someone you know fits the bill, don’t let their efforts go unnoticed. Get a nomination in before the deadline on April 28, 2025.

Forms are being distributed by local Community Gardaí, and hard copies are available from Manorhamilton & District Credit Union. You can also call 071 9855500 or email fboylan@manorhamiltoncu.ie for more info.

Alternatively, request a nomination form by emailing:
SL.Sligo.community@garda.ie
SL.Leitrim.community@garda.ie

Help celebrate the future leaders, helpers, and heroes of Sligo and Leitrim — the Garda Youth Awards are your chance to say thank you.
