Crinniú na nÓg gig draws big crowd as Rock School celebrates milestone and gears up for summer camp

Rock School Manorhamilton marks 18 years with epic birthday gig and summer camp plans

Rock School Manorhamilton celebrated its 18th birthday in style with a high-energy performance night on June 8, transforming a classroom at Gaelscoil Chluainín into a makeshift concert venue for their Crinniú na nÓg gig. The school stepped in at the last minute to host the event, with principal Mairead earning special thanks from organiser Dee Armstrong for her support.

“We had a brilliant night and the kids performed out of their skins,” Dee Armstrong said. More than 90 people packed into the classroom-turned-stage space, while performers and supporters filled every available corner, even spilling into the doorway to catch a glimpse of the action.

The gig featured young musicians trained through Rock School’s music programs, showcasing everything from rock ballads to original tunes. Special credit was given to Stephen Clancy for handling the sound on the night, ensuring the energy was matched with professional-quality audio.

Dee also gave a nod to tutor Niamh Currid, thanking her for her dedication and support as part of the Rock School team. Photos from the night are expected to be shared soon.

Looking ahead, Rock School is now gearing up for its annual summer camp, which will run from June 30 to July 5. The camp offers local youth a chance to hone their musical skills, collaborate with others, and perform in front of a live audience.

The week-long camp will culminate in a concert at the Glens Centre in Manorhamilton on July 4—an event that promises to be another exciting showcase of young musical talent.

Those interested in joining the summer camp or looking for more information are encouraged to contact Dee Armstrong directly at 086 052 7120.

After 18 years of inspiring and empowering young musicians, Rock School Manorhamilton continues to hit all the right notes.
