National schools across Co Leitrim are being invited to apply for new cash grants aimed at boosting digital learning and technology use in classrooms.
The RISE Community Fund has announced a fresh funding call as part of a nationwide drive to help rural schools make the most of high-speed broadband and modern technology.
Primary schools in Leitrim can apply for funding to support a wide range of projects, including digital learning initiatives, classroom technology, connectivity upgrades, or improvements to school infrastructure and operations.
Applications are now open and will close on February 14, 2026, with a simple application form available at www.riseglobalfoundation.com
.
The fund is supported by National Broadband Ireland along with corporate partners involved in delivering the Government’s National Broadband Plan, including KPMG, Circet, TLI Group, Entegro and Obelisk.
As part of the National Broadband Plan rollout, an investment of €46 million will see more than 12,000 homes, farms, businesses and schools in Co Leitrim included in the network. Over 10,100 premises in the county are already able to order high-speed fibre broadband, with take-up rates exceeding 60% in areas where the network has been live the longest.
Founded by David McCourt, the RISE Community Fund has awarded more than 160 cash grants since its launch, supporting rural schools, community groups, social enterprises and small businesses nationwide.
Speaking about the latest funding round, Mr McCourt said the fund was created to help communities fully benefit from high-speed connectivity as broadband access expands.
“As we look ahead to completing the broadband rollout in 2026, we’re delighted to support national schools in Co Leitrim, giving young people in rural communities the tools and opportunities they need to thrive in a digital world,” he said.
TJ Malone, Chief Executive Officer of National Broadband Ireland, said it was vital that communities continued to benefit as the project nears completion.
“Through RISE, we’re proud to support schools in Co Leitrim as they explore new ways to use technology to enhance education and improve school environments,” he said.
