New figures released under the Freedom of Information Act this week reveal that there are 295 people in Leitrim waiting for social housing in Leitrim.
The figures reported by Shannonside indicate that the majority of the people who apply for housing are looking in the south of the county.

They also indicate that 17 people on the list have been waiting for over eight years.
12 people looking for houses in Manorhamilton, the Drumshanbo region, Carrick-on-Shannon and Ballinamore have been waiting for between eight and ten years.

Five people seeking social housing have been waiting for over 10 years in the Drumshanbo region, Carrick-on-Shannon, Cavan border, covering Aughavas, Carrigallen, Carrawallen and Newtowngore and near the Cavan border.
