Emergency meeting called as Leitrim community games face volunteer shortage

The Leitrim Community Games Committee will hold an EGM on Monday, 16th, to ensure the games go ahead.

The extraordinary General meeting is necessary as there are not enough committee members to run the games and spaces, and volunteers are sought.

The roles of Joint-Chair, PRO, and Treasurer need to be filled.

“As we prepare to plan for 2026 community games events, we unfortunately only have 3 remaining members on the county committee  (Garda vetted with community games),“ the committee said in a Facebook post.

“This is obviously not enough to run the county events in a timely and organised manner. We would need at least 1, if not 2, from each area to be available to help out with planning and running county events.”

Leitrim Community Games is split into the Ballinamore, Carrick-on-Shannon, Manorhamilton, Drumshanbo, Mohill, and Lough Allen areas.

The EGM is planned to take place on Monday, 16th of Febuary in Lock 10 Kilclare and it is asked that a representative from each area attend.
