People in Co Leitrim are being urged to consider making a blood donation as blood stock levels have reached a critically low level following the recent Christmas break.
As of January 15, Irish blood supplies were at a critically low level with just a few days supply of blood types O+, O-, A+, A- and B-.
There are some restrictions on making donations but all details are fully explained on the Irish Blood Transfusion Service's website www.giveblood.ie
Here you can check out upcoming clinics and take a questionnaire to determine donation suitability.
Those interested in donating can do so today (Wednesday, January 20) in Ballinamore at the Community Centre from 3pm to 5pm and from 7pm to 9.30pm.
Remember, you never know what life holds for you and by donating blood the life you save could be your own.
