Community appeal as Mohill prepares to host Connacht Fleadh 2026

Community appeal as Mohill prepares to host Connacht Fleadh 2026

The countdown is on as Mohill gets ready to welcome the Connacht Fleadh Cheoil from June 28 to July 5, 2026 — a major cultural event set to bring visitors from across Connacht and beyond to the town.

Local organisers have described the occasion as a proud moment for the community and a unique opportunity to showcase Mohill’s warmth, creativity, and strong sense of togetherness.

To ensure the week-long celebration is a success, organisers are appealing for volunteers from Mohill and surrounding areas to get involved. A wide range of roles will be needed, including event stewards, door attendants, traffic coordinators, organisational support, and general assistance throughout the festival.

Businesses, community groups, and individuals are also being invited to support the Fleadh through sponsorship or by sharing fundraising ideas. Organisers say every contribution — big or small — will help deliver a memorable celebration of traditional Irish music, song, and dance.

An information meeting for anyone interested in taking part will be held on Thursday, March 5, at 7pm in Canon Donohoe Hall.

All members of the community are encouraged to attend and learn more about how they can get involved.

For further information, people can contact Fleadh Chairperson Fionnuala Maxwell on 086 8664639.

Organisers say that with strong local support, Mohill can come together to make Connacht Fleadh Cheoil 2026 a truly special and unforgettable occasion.
