This Thursday, August 25, RTE's Joe Duffy will be guest of honour at the re-launch of Drumshanbo's 'Glimpses of the Past'.
The unique community facility is now located on the first floor of the Credit Union, The Square, Drumshanbo.
This facility highlights the history of the Narrow Gauge Railway (1887 - 1959) as well as the Tramway connection from Ballinamore to Drumshanbo and Arigna.
The exhibition also focuses on the industrial history of the area which includes the many Laird Enterprises, particularly jam manufacturing from 1935, the provision of electricity to the town from 1905 to 1955 and, of course, the impact of coal mining in Arigna on the area for over a 100 years.
Glimpses of the Past also features photographs of the Drumshanbo area and its people, dating back to the late 1890's
Joe Duffy will officiate at the re-launch and all are invited to attend this very special event.
Refreshments will be served.
