They are the club that comes, quite literally, to the rescue for many families in and around the Shannon and now Leitrim Sub Aqua members are appealing for your help to try and raise much needed funds to overhaul the club boat used in volunteer search and rescue operations.
The Club is trying to raise €7500 needed to renew the rescue boat.
While other fundraisers will be held, the Club is hoping to raise €2,750 towards the cost via crowd funding.
The boat is used for search and recovery on the Shannon River, in lakes and on the sea around the North West coast of Ireland.
A spokesperson for the club said that it is imperative that the funds needed are raised in the next 10 weeks “as full payment must be met before the boat will be handed back to use”.
“As you can imagine the boat is the life line of the club, let it be for search and recovery or training new members. We are already overwhelmed by the great response from our friends and families, with a little more help from you we shall be up and running and at your service once again,” added the spokesperson.
