The Parish GAA club

The history of the GAA is all around us, in every village, town and city in Ireland. No amateur organisation in the world is so important in local rural and urban societies.
It follows that the history of the GAA, by it’s contribution to sporting and cultural activities, is in many ways the history of our people. Our people have brought this great organisation with them in their travels all over the world.
Many books have been written about the GAA, but the most important are those written about local clubs by local stalwarts, of what the GAA means to rural Ireland.
The upcoming launch of the history of Mohill GAA, one of the oldest in the county, is eagerly awaited. It will be about the parish and it’s people. The launch will be in Lough Rynn on Saturday, 10th December, all are welcome.
The History committee is aware that a lot of GAA and Mohill people, at home and abroad would like to be associated with the book, bearing in mind it is unlikely that another history will be written in the foreseeable future.
Therefore for the next week or so, everyone has a chance to have their name, individually or as a family, listed by sponsoring a page. Word of mouth has already generated a massive interest.
The cost to have you or your family name listed as a page sponsor is €50. The deadline is short as the book is ready to go to print.
To make the deadline, which is early next week, please contact Francis McGowan, Club Treasurer “” Tel No: (00353) (1)868221418. Anyone wishing to sponsor or make a donation can lodge direct at :Bank of Ireland IBAN No IE61 BOFI 90541620501072. I can also be contacted on 07860 375612.
