Our elf has arrived!

Our elf has arrived!

Eddie has arrived at the Leitrim Observer!

We're all pretty excited here at the Leitrim Observer. Not only is it the first day of December and, well, we can now mention the C word (Christmas) without anyone hurling abuse or the office stapler at us, but today we've also welcomed a new member of staff - Eddie the Elf!

Not only has Eddie been adopted into the Observer family he's been promoted from toy inspector to Elf Scout 1st Class. For his first job Santa has assigned him as the official elf for Co Leitrim.

Eddie has a lot of things planned for Christmas. Under his elf-guidance we've launched the Christmas Craic section of our website. This section will be full of fun and games with lots of competitions on offer right up to December 25.

Christmas Cam

If you would like to send a special Christmas message to someone then why not let Eddie do the work for you. We are opening our Christmas Cam message centre. Send through a quick email to Eddie at with the text you want included - don't forget to include your name and the names of the people you want to send the Christmas message to! Eddie will do a short film to bring your message - in his own special, elfy way - to the people you love.

Ask Eddie

Ever wondered what an average day at Santa's workshop is like? Perhaps you want to know what Rudolph's favourite treat is or what Santa does when he's not checking lists and delivering toys? Well Eddie's your only man...ummm I mean elf! Email your questions to Eddie at and he'll answer them online.

Naughty or Nice?

Well we can't forget that Eddie is here as Santa's representative for Co Leitrim so as part of his official duties for the North Pole, he'll be keeping track of all the naughty and nice people he meets. If you or one of the younger members of the house has been very, very good (or maybe a bit naughty!) then email and let us know and Eddie will add it to his list.

Eddie the blog-star!

Of course Eddie will also be chronicling his adventures in Co Leitrim each day. He'll be uploading photos of places he has gone to and the people he has met. He has a very elfy sense of humour so we're sure to see plenty of fun stuff from our littlest member of staff.  Eddie also has a list of things he must see and do in Leitrim. Eating boxty has already made the list and he's really looking forward to a visit to Tullaghan Strand - apparently 1.5 degrees here is like the middle of Summer in the North Pole. If you can think of any other places he should go to, let us know. Eddie is willing to try anything - although he isn't keen on driving as his little elf legs just won't reach the pedals....probably for the best as his attention span can be a little ummm, unpredictable, especially if there's a box of chocolates or a bag of sweets around.

(Eddie is already planning where he wants to go in Co Leitrim!)

Where's Eddie

Want to win a voucher for Christmas? Well all you have to do is find out where Eddie the  Elf is hiding. Our Where's Eddie competition is very simple. Just collect the clues we put up on Tacebook and our website and try and figure out where Eddie is for a chance to win.

Keep up to date with all of Eddie's news, videos and competitions in the Christmas Craic section of our website here. We'll be putting the links on our Facebook and Twitter pages too  - #ObserverElfWatch! If you want to send a message in for Christmas Cam or questions/suggestions in to Eddie: email and don't forget, he's going to making a list of the naughty and nice children for Santa so everyone try and be on your best behaviour!
