Eddie's guide to Christmas events this weekend!

Eddie's guide to Christmas events this weekend!

Eddie is looking forward to attending a number of Christmas events this weekend.

There's lots of Christmas events underway this weekend across Co Leitrim - it really reminds me of home in the North Pole - there it is Christmas 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!

So if, like me, you want to get into the Christmas spirit this weekend, here are some elf-tastic events for you to choose from:

December 2

Drumshanbo: My boss, Santa, is making his way from the North Pole to Drumshanbo tonight, December 2 at 7.30pm. Not only will he be speaking to local children and double checking his naughty and nice list ( I might have to give him an update!). He'll also be switching on the town's Christmas lights.

December 3

Carrick-on-Shannon: Carrick Library are having a free children' event for ages 0 to 8 at 12 noon with Chris Thompson and her Bunny Hop Show.

Carrick-on-Shannon: There will be a fabulous Winter Market at The Dock. My elf sources tell me that this is the place to get all your Christmas Presents and holiday decorations in a toasty festive atmosphere. The market will run from 12pm to 5pm.

Carrick-on-Shannon: Take a walk through the magical Christmas Village located at Town's Park, behind the rowing club. It is just like being at home for me!

December 4

Ballinamore: Santa is just so busy this time of year but, of course, he is going to Ballinamore to visit all the boys and girls. He will be at the Courthouse at 5.30pm - and who knows, some of my elf friends might be coming with him. Santa will also be switching on the Christmas lights for Ballinamore.

Dromahair: I'll definitely be going to this one - elves and cake, a match made in heaven! The Dromahair Ladies Gaelic Footballers are holding their annual cake sale and Christmas raffle on December 4 at The Depot, Dromahair at 12 noon. Get in early to get the best cakes everyone!

Manorhamilton: North Leitrim Women's Centre are holding their market in Manorhamilton at 12 noon today. Come and get all your shopping done under one roof with wines, chocolates, jewelry, home baking, jams, knitted and novelty goods and much, much more. A surprise guest might also be coming to visit...I wonder who that will be?

Mohill: Come along to St Mary's Church of Ireland, Mohill at 8pm for a wonderful evening of music and song. The pupils from the Hunt School will also perform, Christmas-time - a song they recorded with Tish Dunleavy, which will be on sale at the show. The show will suppor baby Loughlin Óg Burns and his parents Amanda and Loughlin.

Rooskey: Rooskey are having their Christmas Fair Day today at Rooskey Community Centre from 12.45pm to 5pm. There will be mulled wine, a turkey raffle and lots of prizes. Plus there will be an art competition, cake sale and kids disco with DJ Ronan. Santa will be dropping in for a visit too at 1.30pm! All proceeds to the Kilglass/Tarmonbarry Scout Group.

Carrick-on-Shannon: There  Winter Market at The Dock is returning again today from 12pm to 5pm. There will something for everyone and lots of music and treats.

Carrick-on-Shannon: In a very special ceremony the North West Hospice are dedicating a number of trees at the Carrick Christmas Village, in Town's Park behind the Rowing Club, in memory of loved ones. The lights will be turned on at 4.30pm.

December 5

Drumshanbo: Christmas Cooking with David Mitchell in the Food Hub between 6.30pm and 9.30pm. Learn all the tips and tricks and then, pretty please, drop the food into the Leitrim Observer....the staff are starving. Not a chef among them.
