The Shannon-Erne waterway has reopened between Lock 5, Ardrum (Ballinamore) and Lock 7, Ballyduff (Ballinamore).

Earlier this month Waterways Ireland issued a temporary closure notice for the three Leitrim locks between Ardrum and Ballyduff as a result of a water pollution incident.

However, Waterways Ireland has now issued a statement confirming that all remedial action has been taken and the three locks are once again open to boating traffic.

"Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience that this closure may have caused and thanks its customers for their cooperation in this matter," noted the statement.
