A growhouse has been uncovered in Carrick-on-Shannon this afternoon as part of an ongoing investigation into growhouses and the supply of cannabis by Leitrim Gardai.
Plants with an estimated street value of €35,000 were seized by gardai during the search of the property.
Leitrim District Superintendent, Kevin English, told www.leitrimobserver.ie that the plants were discovered in a home that was rented from an unsuspecting landlord in the Carrick-on-Shannon town area.
He said the investigation into the discovery is ongoing and no arrests had yet been made, but gardai are following a definite line of enquiry.
A second home has also been searched in the locality as part of the investigation and gardai have seized an amount of equipment geared for the cultivation of drugs. Gardai believe this house was only in the process of being set up as a growhouse.
