Five homes have been broken into in recent days in the Carrick-on-Shannon area.
The incidents have occurred in the Lis Cara, Cluain Sí and Summerhill areas of the town between November 21 and 23.
All break-ins have occurred during daylight hours and gardai believe the thieves are targeting cash and jewellery - items which can be easily disposed of.
Leitrim District Superintendent, Kevin English, is advising people to refrain from keeping substantial amounts of cash or jewellery in their home.
He is also urging the public to be vigilant and to immediately contact gardai on 071 9650510 if they see any suspicious vehicles or people in their area.
