The markets are held in front of the former courthouse.
The official launch of a new Ballinamore Farmers Market will take place outside the old courthouse in the centre of Ballinamore this Friday, December 8.
Up until now, the market has informally been held on Fridays following on from the town’s family festival in August 2017. It will now be officially held each Friday from 11 to 3pm.
The town’s festival committee has supported the venture alongside the Leitrim Local Enterprise Office (LEO), the local Credit Union and the Leitrim Organic Farmers Co-Op.
New stalls have been purchased thanks to the co-funding organised by the Festival Committee and the Leitrim LEO as part of the Leitrim Food Strategy Initiative. The market also has the support of local business owners who see the market as a focal point for creating a revitalisation of the town centre. Another regular feature of the market will be to encourage “local community organisations” to get involved and this begins with the Ballinamore Men’s Shed.
This Friday there will be live music, delicious local and ethnic food to buy and sample. There will be organic meats, free range eggs, beautiful locally homemade cakes, artisan sourdough breads and pizza, jams and sauces, gluten free apple tarts, local fruit, plants, crafts, gift cards, Christmas wreaths and second hand books. So please come join us celebrate our new Market!
