WEATHER WARNING: More snow and ice expected as Status Orange warning extended to Sunday night

Status Orange weather warning issued.

Met Éireann have issued a new Status Orange weather alert for Co Leitrim and rest of Connacht as well as counties c avan Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath and Meath. This latest warning comes as significant falls of snow are expected Saturday night and into Sunday with accumulations of 4-8cm set to occur quite widely with greater totals possible.

Met Éireann say paths and roads will also be impacted by black ice and snow accumulations over the weekend.

This follows on from a Status Orange weather alert currently in place for snow and ice in Co Leitrim throughout today. Many areas saw snow fall throughout Thursday night and into this morning with accumulations of 2-3 cm reported in many areas.
