Vandalism in Carrick-on-Shannon

Damage to signs at Tearmann Park, Carrick-on-Shannon

Carrick-on-Shannon Tidy Towns are reporting that vandals have attaked two signs in the town.

According to Carrick-on-Shannon Tidy Towns Facebook page, two wildlife signs in Tearmann Park have been "damaged beyond repair."

Tearmann Park overlooks the Shannon and the Marina with seating and walkway. Tearmann the name for the park is an Irish word meaning sanctuary or refuge.

The signs were erected two years ago at a cost of €1200 to the Tidy Towns Assosication. According to the group the signs were mostly paid for by the group. Carrick Tidy Towns is made up of approximately 25 volunteers, half of whom are retired people, and the group rely on the generosity of local people for funds.
