Talks over disused Courthouse in Ballinamore

Discussions between Leitrim County Council and the Courts Service are ongoing over the state of Ballinamore Courthouse.


Council members were informed this week that a “cost plan” has been drawn up and a meeting between the parties is expected shortly.
Ballinamore Councillors had previously backed a proposal demanding the Courts Service of Ireland outline what works they plan to carry out at the former Ballinamore Courthouse. They are calling for the Courts Service to be put 'on notice' that enforcement proceedings will be pursued if works are not carried out to safeguard the historic structure.
The courthouse closed in 2009.
