Mother of three disqualified from driving following drink driving conviction at Carrick-on-Shannon District Court

Carrick-on Shannon man facing jail term if he re-offends

Carrick-on-Shannon District Court.

Mary Sweeney, 86 Rathbraughan Park, Sligo was convicted, fined €100 and disqualified from driving for five years for drink driving at Lisseeghan, Carrick-on-Shannon on August 22, 2014.


Carrick-on-Shannon District Court heard Mary Sweeney’s alcohol reading was 86 mcg per 100ml of breath.


The defendant is currently disqualified from driving, she was convicted and disqualified for four years for drink driving in Sligo District Court on April 12, 2018. That case predated this offence.


Solicitor Tom MacSharry said the probation report for his client was “good” and that she now has a “handle on her difficulties” and is now “alcohol free.”


The mother of three young children has attended counseling and pleaded guilty at the earliest possible opportunity.
