Tipperary man "thought he was hilarious" as held up traffic in Carrick-on-Shannon

Carrick-on Shannon man facing jail term if he re-offends

Carrick-on-Shannon District Court.

A Carrick-on-Shannon Garda told the District Court that the defendant “thought he was hilarious” holding up traffic in the county town with crutches.


Neal Tobin, 12 William St, Clonmel, Co Tipperary was convicted and fined €400 for disorderly conduct at Bridge St, Carrick-on-Shannon on June 4, 2017.


Garda Des Flanagan said they were on patrol when they found a man using crutches and blocking the street and traffic.
The Garda explained the crutches didn’t belong to the defendant.


He also gave his name as Reilly and that was false.


He said the defendant was standing in the middle of the road waving the crutches and laughing.


Garda Flanagan explained to Judge Kilrane that the defendant “thought he was hilarious.”
