No change for local election constituencies in Co Leitrim

Despite calls for Drumshanbo town and surrounds to be incorporated into a larger, 7 seat, Carrick-on-Shannon Municipal District, the 2018 Local Electoral Area Boundary Committee report has recommended that no changes be made to the existing constituency boundaries.

Nine submissions were received as part of the review of Local Electoral Areas but the recommendation released yesterday was that the current configuration of three municipal areas -  Carrick-on-Shannon; Manorhamilton and Ballinamore - each with six councillors, be retained.
