Walk Through Nature by Martina Scott.
The Leitrim Design House are delighted to showcase a stunning new exhibition on ARTWALL by Martina Scott titled 'Walk through Nature' which opened yesterday, Monday, October 1.
Martina is a much admired printmaker based in Co Louth. This exceptional collection is created from detailed drawings from nature which are designed and hand pulled using silk screen onto Irish Linen.
The richness of Irish landscape and wildlife is explored through pattern, line and form in Martina's work and created using superior natural materials and inks. The texture and natural finish of the linen adds a depth and richness to her drawings.
Martina lives and works in Carlingford, at the foothills of the Cooley Mountains.
She finds inspiration in the countryside and the coast surrounding Carlingford, where she has lived with her family for the past 14 years.
Her regular walks never fail to provide her with inspiration, her ideas grow from the wildness that surrounds her. She describes her inspiration and process as “My art is a celebration of my love of nature and how it makes me feel.
“The aspects of my environment which I respond to the most are depicted in my work.
“Line, pattern and the fleeting dramas of everyday life inspire me. Whether it's cawing crows, swirling starlings or dark gathering clouds, there's always something to enthral.
“I hand print my designs, using a silk screen, on to Irish linen or handmade paper, as they both lend themselves to the earthy, rich quality of my designs.”
This exhibition continues into November, Leitrim Design House welcome any budding art collectors who may wish to place a deposit on a work and pay over a number of weeks.
It's also a great opportunity to snap up a unique gift for a loved one for that special season at the end of the year! Everyone is welcome to drop in and enjoy this elegant collection.
