Sergeant Robert Conroy of Manorhamilton Garda Station
Today, Wednesday, is the date when the country’s longest serving member of An Garda Síochána, Manorhamilton Garda Station’s highly popular Sergeant Robert Conroy retires from the force after 41 and a half years of service.
In a career that began on June 26, 1977 Sgt Conroy served in Dublin, Dowra and Dromahair before moving back to Manorhamilton following the closure of the Garda Station in Dromahair.
An accomplished shooter, Sgt Conroy represented Ireland and An Garda Siochana with distinction on several occasions at the World Police and Fire Games in Virginia, New York and Belfast.
Tributes were paid to Sgt Conroy at this morning's sitting of Manorhamilton District Court.
There will be a retirement function to celebrate Robert’s distinguished and long career in Heraghty’s Bar, Manorhamilton at 10pm on tonight, October 10. All in the community are welcome to attend.
Best wishes on his retirement are wished to Sergeant Robert and his wife, Mary.
