Smart Town Conference in Mohill today
A nationwide conference on crafting a vision for a Smart Town and Village programme in Ireland is getting underway in Mohill today.
The initiative, first developed in Europe, focuses on the revitalisation of rural areas.
Leitrim County councillors and its Chief Executive Lar Power will also attend the conference which is being hosted by Leitrim County Council at Lough Rynn.
Among the speakers are Dermot Ryan a cabinet member of the EU Commission on Agriculture and Rural Development, NUI Maynooth’s Jim Walsh, and Dr Stephan Brennan founder of Centuri Analytics.
Mel Gavin with the Innovation Centre at Sligo IT will present the ”Story so far…. the development of a Smart Community in Mohill”.
Minister of State Sean Keane and Dr Stephen Brennan Chief Digital Adivsor to the Irish Government will also present their ideas.
