Tony McGowan Walk, Drumshanbo on February 17
The Drumshanbo community will once again set out to clear the area of any litter before the Tony McGowan walk this month.
Independent Cllr Gerry Dolan asked Leitrim County Council could they help the community of Drumshanbo with a litter pick up before the McGowan walk at the January meeting.
The Tony McGowan walk run by Drumshanbo AC on February 17 will have a half marathon, 10k and 5k runs along with a 2.5k scavenger hunt.
Cllr Dolan said , “60 bags of litter was picked up last year on the Drumshanbo - Drumkeerin road.”
Leitrim County Council said they can provide bags, gloves and a collection service, they can also help set up an adopt the road scheme for the town.
Cllr Dolan said over 6,000 people are expected for the Drumshanbo walk on February 17.
