Sinn Féin's Pearse Doherty tells Donegal selection convention a border poll will happen

Signing their papers, Noel Jordan and Michael McMahon who were confirmed as SF candidates last night

Sinn Féin's Deputy Pearse Doherty stated: "It is only a matter of time" before a border poll is held."
Doherty made the claim Thursday night, February 14 in Donegal town where he was speaking at a Sinn Féin local elections selection convention for the Donegal Municipal District.
The poll he said, would become a reality: "This is being discussed at the highest levels with the Taoiseach, the British Prime Minister, a former leader of the UUP and in the House of Commons. It is now a reality. We will see a united Ireland."
The convention, in the Central Hotel, saw sitting councillor Noel Jordan and Bundoran-based Michael McMahon confirmed as the Sinn Féin candidates to seek election in May. They are two of 13 Sinn Féin candidates running in Donegal for the party in the elections.
