Deputy McLoughlin, who has served as Assistant Whip to the Fine Gael party since 2016, said: “I’m very pleased to have been appointed as Assistant Government Chief Whip and I very much look forward to working with my Fine Gael colleague, Chief Whip Minister Seán Kyne, to ensure the effective scheduling and monitoring of Dáil business, preparing briefs for the Government on legislation and chairing the Oireachtas Legislation Committee when required.

“In a minority Government, this is a very demanding job, but it is a great honour to be appointed to this position and I look forward to working hard in the role along with continuing to serve the people of Sligo and Leitrim to the best of my abilities.”

Taoiseach Leo Vardkar will visit Carrick-on-Shannon today, Friday February 22 and meet with local businesses along with Fine Gael election candidate Gerry Reynolds.
