Deaths in Leitrim - Thursday, February 28, 2019

The following deaths have taken place in Leitrim and surrounding areas:

Josie McPartland, Drumkeerin, Co Leitrim

The death has occurred of Josie McPartland (nee McHugh), Grouse Lodge, Drumkeerin, Co. Leitrim and formerly of Towneycorry, Lough Allen, Co. Leitrim on Wednesday, 27th February, 2019 in Arus Breffni, Manorhamilton.
Predeceased by her husband Frank. Josie will be sadly missed by her loving family, daughters Mary and Catherine, sons Gerard and Francis; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, daughters-in-law Bernadette and Maura, sons-in-law Charlie and John, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Reposing at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law Francis and Maura McPartland, Sheena, Drumkeerin, on Thursday from 6pm until 8pm. House private at all other times, please. Funeral Mass on Friday at 12 o'clock in St. Brigid’s Church, Drumkeerin. Burial to follow in Curraghs Cemetery, Tarmon.

Tommy McWeeney - Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim

Tommy McWeeney, Lismakeegan, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim), on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, peacefully, in his 94th year at Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar. Pre-deceased by his sisters Bridie and Lily. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his loving sisters Maura Devine (Bornacoola) and Helen (U.S.A.), brother John (Annaduff), sister-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. Rest In Peace.
Reposing at St.Patrick' Hospital Chapel, Carrick-on-Shannon on Thursday evening from 4 o'clock until 6 o'clock with removal to St. Mary's Church, Carrick-on-Shannon arriving at 7 o'clock. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 12 o'clock with funeral afterwards to St. Mary's Cemetery.

Jimmy Stenson, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim

Jimmy Stenson, Dublin Road, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim and formerly Eslin Bridge, Co Leitrim on Tuesday, 26th February 2019 (peacefully) in his 99th year, in the tender loving care of the nurses and staff at St. Patrick's Hospital, Carrick-on-Shannon, surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his brother Pat and niece Angela.
Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his loving wife Maura, son Gerard (Kilcloon, Co. Meath), daughters Helen (Cregg, Co. Sligo), Kathleen (Brighton) and Patricia (Terenure), daughter-in-law Jo, sons-in-law Gerry and Adam, grandchildren Barry, Claire, Conor, Neil, Tom, Gary, Ian and Kate, sister-in-law Josie, brothers-in-law Mike Joe and Seamus, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, great-grandnephews, cousins, relatives, neighbours and his many friends.

Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 12 o'clock with funeral afterwards to St.Mary's Cemetery. Family flowers only. House private please

Maura Ridge, Newport, Co Mayo / Mohill, Co Leitrim

Mary Ridge (nee Quinn), Newport Town, Co. Mayo and formerly Mohill, Co. Leitrim and Salthill, Galway on Tuesday, 26th February 2019. Sadly missed by her son Martin, daughter Avril, daughter-in-law Alice, brother Pat Quinn (Salthill, Galway), grandchildren Erica, Eoghan, Philip and Ryan, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Mary will be reposing in Navin's Funeral Home, Westport on Thursday, February 28th, from 4.30pm to 6pm. Cremation will take place on Friday, March 1st in Shannon Crematorium at 1pm.

John Joe Murtagh, Tawley, Castlegal, Co Leitrim

After a short illness at Sligo University Hospital. Sadly missed by his wife Kay, son Kieran, sisters Annie Dolan, Sligo, Brigid Finnegan, Rosses Point, Mary McAloon, Letterbreen and brother Packie, Laghta. Reposing at his home on Thursday, February 28, from 11am until 4pm and from 6pm until 10 pm. House private at all other times. 
Arriving at St Aidan's Church, Kinlough on Friday for 12 noon Funeral Mass with burial afterwards in St Aidan's Cemetery, Kinlough. Family flowers only. Donations in lieu to North West Hospice c/o McGloin Undertakers.

Michael Cornyn, Dowra, Co Cavan / Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh

Cornyn Michael (Mike) on 24 February 2019 passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends. Formerly of Corlisbannon, Dowra, Co Cavan and Enniskillen. Brother of the late Murty, Mary, Kathleen, Nora, Lizzie, Bridget and uncle of the late Cathal RIP. Lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his nieces Jennifer, Colette, Bernie, Christina, grand nieces, nephews, grand nephew, great grand niece and wider family circle.
Michael's remains are reposing at the home of his niece, Jennifer, 6 Drumlin Glen, Enniskillen BT74 7GR from 12 noon on Thursday, 28th February until removal on Saturday, 2nd March at 10.30am to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Doobally, Dowra, Co Cavan for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

Mary Anne McWeeney, Ballyshannon, Co Donegal

The death has occurred suddenly in The Blackrock Clinic, Dublin of Mrs. Mary Anne McWeeney, The Mall, Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal. Remains will arrive in St. Patrick's Church, Ballyshannon on Thursday for 11am for Funeral Mass followed by interment in The Abbey Cemetery, Ballyshannon. Family flowers only, donations in lieu to the Sheil Hospital Patients Comfort Fund c/o Peter Carty Funeral Director, Garrison, Co. Fermanagh or any family member. House strictly private please.

Betty Cornwall, Boyle, Co Roscommon

Elizabeth (Betty) Cornwall (nee Boland), Boyle and Drumderrig Nursing Home, Boyle, Co. Roscommon on Tuesday, 26th February, 2019, peacefully, in Roscommon University Hospital. Predeceased by her husband Archie. Sadly missed by her daughter Elizabeth Hegarty (Dromore West, Co. Sligo), sons Leslie, Neville and Adrian, grandchildren, relatives, friends and neighbours.
Reposing Mahon's Funeral Home, Boyle on Thursday evening from 6pm to 8pm, arriving in Church of Ireland, Green Street, Boyle on Friday morning, March 1st, for Funeral Service at 11 o'clock. Burial afterwards in adjoining graveyard.
