A Status Orange weather alert has been issued.
Met Éireann has issued a Status Orange Wind warning for Counties Leitrim, Donegal, Mayo and Sligo.
As storm Gareth approaches, westerly winds will reach mean speeds of 65 to 75km/h with damaging gusts reaching 110 to 130km/h. There is also the risk of coastal flooding due to high seas.
The alert is valid from midday on Tuesday, 12 March, 2019 to 9am on Wednesday, 13 March, 2019.
A Status Yellow heavy rainfail warning has also been issued for Connacht valid from 6pm this evening, Monday, March 11 until 6am tomorrow, Tuesday, March 12.
