UPDATE: 28 more deaths confirmed on Thursday, April 9 as a result of Covid-19

The death toll continues to rise here in Ireland with a further 28 dying from Covid-19 according to the latest figures announced this evening, Thursday, April 9, 2020.

 To date the number of people who have died in Ireland is 263.

500 more cases of Covid-19 have also been diagnosed in the Republic, bringing the number of confirmed cases to 6,574.

Of the 263 people with the virus to die in this country, 72% died in a hospital environment with a further 11% (30 deaths) occurring in intensive care units. 

81% of people who have died so far from Covid-19 had underlying health conditions.
