Leitrim gardaí have carried out more than 600 welfare checks over the last 10 months as part of community work during the pandemic.
Chief Superintendent Aidan Glacken noted that 649 welfare checks have been carried out to ensure that vulnerable members of our community are supported and assisted where necessary.
The Chief Superintendent also acknowledged the work of the "local authority, our colleagues in the health sector, voluntary groups, the County Community Forum, the GAA" and "all who put their shoulder to the wheel" in the fight against Covid-19.
He also paid tribute to the public, thanking them for "their resilience, patience and understanding" over the last two years when we all had to deal with "the bit of a minefield that Covid-19 was".
