Sean Quinn no longer supports RTE documentary 'Quinn Country'

RTE documentary Quinn Country

The three-part documentary on Sean Quinn, ‘Quinn Country’ continues tonight Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th on RTE One at 9.35pm.

Move over Netflix, Sky, Disney+ and every other channel because the only TV talking point this week along the border has been the 90 minute show which started last night and focuses on the rise and fall of the international Quinn empire.

Sean Quinn  has told local media that after watching a preview of the three episodes, he is withdrawing his support for it. He feels it did not let him tell his side of the story, as agreed.

Over four years in the making, and featuring candid testimony from Seán Quinn himself, the documentary sets out to tell the story of the man who personified Ireland’s boom and subsequently, its bust. It was made by the award-winning Fine Point Films for RTÉ, and directed by Trevor Birney and produced by Andrew Tully.

This series brings Seán Quinn’s story up to date. It details the latest developments in a gripping saga; the legal battles between the Quinn family and the state, the changing relationship between Quinn and his former colleagues and the campaign of intimidation against companies formerly owned by Quinn, culminating in the horrific attack in 2019 on Seán Quinn’s former right-hand man, Kevin Lunney.

Sean and Patricia Quinn give their interviews mainly in their home close to the Slieve Russell Hotel in Ballyconnell. A number of local figures appear in the documentary including Newtowngore's John McCartin.

Quinn's story is also being published as a book due for release on December 1. If you miss the documentary live, it is available on the RTE player.
