Kevin Conway has Drumshanbo roots

Kevin J. Conway has been announced as Grand Marshal of the 2023 New York City St Patrick’s Day parade.
Mr Conway will lead marchers up Fifth Avenue in the 262nd New York City Saint Patrick’s Day Parade on Friday, March 17, 2023.


Kevin Conway is a long-time New Yorker residing on Long Island with his wife Dee and their children. Kevin is very proud of his Irish Heritage tracing his multigenerational heritage to Counties Leitrim, Cork, Meath and Limerick.
Kevin's grandfather came from Drumshanbo and he is proud that a pub in the town still bear's his family surname: Conway.


Kevin Conway is the vice chairman of Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, LLC a global private equity firm that he joined in 1997. Prior to joining CD&R, he spent ten years with Goldman, Sachs & Co., as a partner.
Kevin Conway is the former chair and current vice chair of the board of directors of Student Sponsor Partners, an organization providing educational opportunities to at-risk inner-city children in New York City and is a Trustee of the Carnegie Corporation of New York. He serves on the boards of Catholic Health Services of Long Island, and the New York Catholic Foundation, which administers funds for the Archdiocese of New York in pursuit of the religious, charitable, educational, and community services activities of the Archdiocese.

The Parade starts at 11 am every March 17th and begins at 44th Street and proceeds up Fifth Avenue to 79th street in Manhattan.

The New York City St Patrick’s Parade marched for the first time in 1762, fourteen Years before the Declaration of Independence was signed in Independence Hall, Philadelphia. The Parade is regarded as the most popular of all the Parades in New York City. The New York Parade consists only of marchers and each year hosts some 250,000 marchers and two million spectators. The Parade has many outstanding marching bands, bagpipers in marching formations, high-school and college bands from throughout the United States and from all over the world.

 The occasion is televised live to millions of households nationwide for four hours by host station WNBC Channel Four. The broadcast is webcast live via the internet through the Parade’s web site at NYCStPatricksParade.Org and WNBC Channel Four website at www.wnbc.com
