For their Christmas Project, Leitrim Traveller Women’s Craft Group made and donated 16 lap blankets to Residents of St. Patrick’s Hospital.
The craft group which is part of Leitrim Development Company – Traveller’s Project and supported by the HSE has been running for five years.
The women make their craft on a weekly basis throughout the year, through sewing, crochet, embroidery and hand craft. They have gained many new skills from working with their tutor Joyce Tiernan and this year they decided to put those skills to a charitable use; they made 8 patchwork quilted lap blankets and 8 crochet lap blankets.
On Monday morning some of the Staff and Residents came down to meet the women’s group and choose their blanket. The women’s craft group would like to extend thanks to all involved.
