Plans have been lodged for a micro-distillery in Leitrim
Plans for a proposed micro-distillery in Ballyshannon have been submitted to Leitrim Co Council.
The planning application will see a proposed change of use of an existing agricultural building to a proposed micro-distillery, along with the installation of a septic tank and reedbed soakaway at an existing building - 6.6m high .
The plans outline that there will be no extension to the existing building but the implementation of new mezzanine level, accessed by a new metal stair, which does not relate to protected structures.
The development address is Cornaglah, Ballyshannon, Co. Leitrim, F94 X8P3.
The application is submitted in the name of Paul Carty.

It was submitted on December 7, with a decision due date of February 9, 2026.
A number of letters of support are included with the planning application, including from Irish Craft Beverages and the local Angler's Rest pub.
Owner of the pub, Peter Lipsett said in a letter that the development will be the smallest distillery in Ireland and will use their pub for tastings.
"This will bring tourism to our town, Kinlough, and help generate prosperity and social sustainability in this part of the county," Mr Lipsett outlined in his letter.
