Carrick AC's Michelle Lannon claimed a brilliant bronze medal in the World Masters Indoors Championships in Torun last Sunday.
The Boyle runner clocked a time of 10 mins 52.09 seconds to take the bronze medal in the W50 3,000m with Italy's Cinzia Zugnoni less than a second ahead in second place. The race was won by Australia's Lucy Di Benedetto in a time of 10.46.89 with Ireland's Yasmin Canning fourth in a time of 11.08.61.
Ballinamore AC's Colin Griffin placed 10th out of almost 700 participants in the 52nd Dunboyne 10K on Sunday in a time of 32.00, just outside his pb. his completes Colin's race preparation for the Belfast Marathon on the May Bank Holiday.
The second weekend of the Athletics Ireland Juvenile Indoors will be held next Saturday & Sunday in Athlone.
