Irish Masters Youth champion Charlie McDermott
Charlie McDermott was the headline performer for Leitrim Darts last weekend as the Carrick on Shannon thrower won the Youths title at the INDO Masters Championships in Dundalk, Co Louth.
The number one ranked youth’s thrower, Charlie produced a series of fantastic performances all day Saturday to take the Youth’s Masters’ title while his fellow Leitrim thrower Sam Harkness made it out of the group and was unlucky in the last 16.
In the development tour, Leitrim Darts had two lads competing - James Rock made it out of his group and fell just short in the quarter finals. Ben Mulvey also made it out of his group and fell short in the quarter finals but another good result means he holds his place as Irish number one on the development tour.
In the pairs, five Leitrim teams took part - Graham McDermott & Robert Mulvey, Paul Maguire & Sean Maguire, Sam Harkness & James Rock all just fell short in not making it out of the group stage while Ben Mulvey and Charlie McDermott made it out of their group but just fell short in the last 32.
Jason Vickers and Ray Mulvey also made it out of their group and battled through to the last 16 where they exited the competition.
On Sunday in the men's masters, Leitrim Darts were represented by Sean & Paul McGuire, Jason Vickers, Robert Mulvey and the defending champion Raymond Mulvey while Olive McIntyre was our sole representative in the Ladies.
After the success of Charlie on Saturday, hopes were high for success in the senior master's but Ray Mulvey surrendered his title when he lost to Niall Culleton who went on to contest the final. Jason Vickers was unfortunate to lose a last leg decider against Martin Henahan.
Robert Mulvey fought hard but only managed one set against his Kerry opponent while the McGuire brothers had good first round wins but that was as good as it got this year for our men.
Olive McIntyre reached the semifinals of the ladies with Cavan’s Theresa King making it to the last 16 of the singles.

Best of luck to Leitrim qualifier Raymond Mulvey. Also on the day, the top 32 qualifiers nationwide will compete in an under 65 average competition, it promises to be a great day of darts
The third round of the Leitrim Darts Super League takes place next Friday with Lough Allen versus Mohill and Breffni versus Ballinamore.
