Four Leitrim Junior pool players who were members of the Irish Junior team who won the European 8 Ball Pool Championships were honoured by the Irish Pool Association at a banquet held in the Green Isle Hotel Dublin on Saturday night last.
Kevin McWeeney from Aughnasheelin, Jamie Gaffney Ballyfarnon, Keith Conlon Dromahair and Darragh O’Shea from Bawnboy along with three Wexford players were presented with Crystal Trophys by IPA Chairman Conor O’Boyle.
Accepting his award, team captain Kevin thanked the large attendance who travelled long distances to celebrate the first Junior European Championship win for Ireland and all who met the team on their arrival home at Dublin Airport and arrival at their respective counties and paid special tribute to manager John Lacey for all his work he put into the team. Kevin also paid tribute to his team mates and thanked the IPA, LPA, WPA and all who helped to make this night possible with a special thanks to all their parents.
St. Patrick’s Day Parades: The LPA are entering a float to honour the Leitrim Junior team with three All-Ireland winning cups in 2012 and European cups 2013 on display. They will be in Carrick-on-Shannon and Drumshanbo and all are welcome to come along and show your support.
