Thanks to everyone who turned out in force for last Friday’s fundraiser for Leitrim Olympians Colin Griffin & Laura Reynolds in Murtagh’s.
There was a great turnout to salute the achievement of Laura & Colin, who were both present on the night, and it was great to see so many former members, parents and officials turn up to honour Leitrim’s Olympic athletes.
The night also saw both Olympians receive a special Leitrim Community Games vest to mark their achievement as both had won medals in the National Community Games Finals.
Special thanks must go to Siobhan Murtagh and Mary Glancy for their efforts in organising the event which was a smashing success. Thanks to all the performers and all those who contributed their services free of charge to the night. All money raised on the night will go towards Colin & Laura’s training funds and on behalf of the club, we wish them both the very best of luck when they compete in London on Saturday, August 11.
Next Saturday, Eanna Madden & Cathal McElgunn are in action again when they run the 200m at the Athletics Ireland Juvenile Championships and we wish them all the best of luck.
The best of luck too to former member Richie Doran and everyone associated with the Leitrim Canal 5Km run on Sunday morning, I’m sure there will be a large turnout of members for what will be both a fast and testing course.
On Thursday, training will be held for all our club members who have qualified for the National Community Games Finals at the top field of the Community School at 6 pm. All those who have qualified are welcome to attend.
Finally, we wish long serving club member Chris Daly the very best on Thursday when he weds Jane O’Hara in Cootehall and wish them the very best in the years ahead. I hear Chris is even going out for a run on the morning with Clive!!
