Bradley Clinic Carrick 5 Miler to benefit St Ciaran's Services

The annual Bradley Clinic Carrick 5 miler is on this Sunday February 21, at 11 am starting beside the Carrick Sports Complex.

Registration for the race is online at www.runireland.com and from 9am on Sunday at the Sports complex.

This year’s race is two loops of the Summerhill Castlecarra loop which is a well renowned walking and running loop for all fitness enthusiasts in the Carrick area. For walkers, there is a 4k loop which is one loop of the same course.

Proceeds this year are going to St Ciaran’s Services which is a day Service for people with an intellectual disability from the South Leitrim catchment area.

Staff, parents and friends of St. Ciaran’s Services decided in 2013 that a major fundraising campaign was needed in order to provide funds to develop a purpose built respite service that will address the current and future needs for children and adults with intellectual disability in the Leitrim/West Cavan area. The layout of the current house is no longer suitable to meet the complex needs of children currently using the Service presently.

All fundraising monies that are currently donated to St. Ciaran’s are put towards this planned facility and St. Ciaran’s are actively looking for a site on which to locate this facility within the environs of Carrick-on-Shannon.

St. Ciaran’s adhere to a person centred approach to caring for people with an intellectual disability in a community based service and strive to promote integration and inclusion through the use of local facilities. North West Parents and friends Association is a voluntary organisation providing person centred services for children and adults with Special needs and their families.

Refreshments, teas and coffees will be served in the Sports complex after the race. Complimentary sports massages will be offered by Bradley Clinic. To get behind and support this worthy cause, simply register online or register on Sunday morning. Further details from Graham Allen on 086 0443305.
