Clive 34th in Euro Police Champs

Leitrim’s Clive Glancy finished 34th at the European Police Cross-country championships in England last week, second finisher on the Irish team who finished eighth.

On a tough and hilly course in the grounds of Princethorpe College near Coventry, the Longford based Garda covered the 12,000m in a time of 41.08 to finish 34th in the field of almost 90 runners at 15th USPE European Police Cross Country Championships.

Up against some almost professional athletes, the Irish team finished eighth out of the 16 nations taking part with top Irish finisher David Mansfield 28th in a time of 40.23. The team title was won by Germany who filled the top four places.

Drumshanbo AC Adult Fit for Life

Registration for the next block of running sessions organised by Drumshanbo Athletic Club is taking place at 7.30 this Thursday, March 31. For all current members the fee is €25 for 13 weeks of training. New members are welcome. However there will be an annual insurance fee to pay also.

Drumshanbo AC also run Fit 4 Youth sessions every Thursday at the Mayflower Centre in Drumshanbo. Contact Club officials for details.

North Leitrim AC Couch to 5K

North Leitrim AC are launching their Couch to 5K programme this week in Manorhamilton and Kinlough.

The “Couch to 5K” programme started last Monday at St. Clare’s CS track and on Tuesday at the Community Centre in Kinlough, and will continue each week as the group training programme caters for all abilities.

The programme is a fantastic opportunity for beginners or past athletes to kick start a new healthy life/fitness regime and the workload is designed to gently introduce you to running, offering a mixture of two coaching sessions and a free session you schedule at your own convenience.

North Leitrim AC have almost 100% success rate with our participants, offering expert coaching and guidance from experienced coaches.
