Brendan Courtney, entrepreneur, stylist, designer and broadcaster will judge this year’s Lola Montez Ladies Day at Sligo Races on Thursday, August 4.
Local businesses have come together to support the hugely popular evening meeting and fashion event, by sponsoring a range of Ladies Day and best dressed men prizes.
The winner of the best dressed lady competition will walk away with a top prize of €1,500 cash sponsored by Lola Montez Nightclub in Sligo Town. The runner-up will win a headpiece designed by Caithriona King, 2015 Millinery Designer of the Year, sponsored by Marians Fashion and Bridalwear in Boyle, Co Roscommon.
The eight finalists will receive a Johnston Court Shopping Centre voucher worth €125 and a bottle of prosecco from Foley’s Bar and Off Licence.
In addition, there is also a best dressed gentleman category, with a fantastic prize of a stylish suit from Addam Menswear Sligo.
Brendan Courtney said “ I’m expecting a great sense of style from the ladies and gents in the North West. I’ll be looking for originality, some colour and a racing appropriate look.”
Kathryn Foley, Manager of Sligo Races, commented “Our Ladies Day is one of our most popular fixtures of the year. It’s great to have so many local businesses come together to sponsor such fantastic prizes. It’s a great collaboration and I would like to thank them all for their support. We look forward to welcoming Brendan and all the ladies and gents to Sligo Races on Thursday evening, August 4, for a great evening of racing and fashion.”
Fergal Quinn, Owner of the Lola Montez Nightclub, said “This day has always brought out the very best in fashion and Brendan's involvement this year as judge is sure to add to the excitement. We look forward to entertaining all after the races with a Spanish BBQ in Bourbon Bar and then in Lola Montez for the official after-party.”
Brendan will mingle among the racegoers to pick his finalists. He will announce the winner in the Parade Ring at 8.00 pm.
