The 12th Lough Key parkrun took place last Saturday with Owen Fletcher from Dunboyne AC first across the line on his first visit to Lough Key Parkrun.
The Lough Key Parkrun is a free timed 5k run in Lough Key every Saturday morning at 9.30am sharp for everyone, elite, beginners, walkers.
Lough Key parkrun is regularly attracting runners from several running clubs in Dublin and further afield but it is the local runners/walkers /volunteers who are the heart and soul of this unique, inclusive event every Saturday at 9.30 am.
These 5K timed runs are free and take place in pleasant parkland surroundings and Parkrun encourage people of every ability to take part; from those taking their first steps in running to Olympians; from juniors to those with more experience. Everyone is welcome.

Saturday’s male first finisher was Owen Fletcher of Dunboyne AC on his first visit to Lough Key parkrun. Lough Key core group member Graham Allen finished in third place behind of Conor Flanagan.
Ann Wynne was first female finisher ahead of Kathleen Horgan of Sportsworld who has finished first on three previous occasions. Third female was Blaithin McPartlan.
Results: Men: 1st Owen Fletcher (M30-34) Dunboyne AC 18:55; 2nd Conor Flanagan (VM45-49) 19:58; 3rd: Graham Allen (VM50-54) 20:29. Ladies: Ann Wynne (VW45-49) 21:07; 2nd Kathleen Horgan (VW40-44) Sportsworld 21:27; 3rd Blaithin McPartlan (VW35-39) 24:45.
This week there were 150 runners, of whom 29 were first timers and 40 recorded new personal bests. Representatives of 7 different athletics clubs took part.
