Last Saturday was wet in Lough Key Forest Park but the management very kindly gave Lough Key parkrun the loan of their pop up tent. This was a great help at the finish line and allowed the scanners to have cover.
Aidan McKiernan was first over the line in 20:18 with Niall O'Donoghue second in 20:25 and Michael Healy third in 20:41. Fourth across the line and first female was Ann Wynne in 20:51 with Suzanne Keenehan second and 16th overall in 23:26 and Blaithin McPartland third in 24:14.
This week there were 101 runners, of whom 14 were first timers and 32 recorded new Personal Bests. Full results and a complete event history can be found on the Lough Key parkrun Results Page.
Next Saturday, September 10, Lough Key parkrun will be joined by Celebrity Operation Transformation. Comedienne Katherine Lynch from Mohill will complete her 5k run along with the rest of the parkrunners.
Alongside her to help and encourage will be core team member Helen. We are hoping there will be newcomers to parkrun from the Operation Transformation programme and Helen will be their ambassador in their efforts to get fit and hopefully become a lifetime parkrunner.
Don't forget if you would like to volunteer we would be delighted to have you on board any Saturday that suits.
Lough Key parkrun is on facebook and twitter and we also have a website. Have a look at our sites. Once our Saturday parkrun is over it is nice to keep in touch with the wider parkrun community online.
The parkrun is attracting a core of regular runners now with new parkrunners joining each week. Whether it is wet or dry, cold or warm the core team of Lough Key parkrun will be in the Forest park at 9.30am every Saturday.
