Our penultimate event of the year was a ranking singles which took place in Paddy's Bar Carrick-on-Shannon last Sunday and was kindly sponsored by Colm Griffin.
A poor turnout for the first time this year didn't affect the quality as Ray Mulvey bounced back to form to take the win. In the first semi Ady Somers couldn't live with a resurgent David Bohan who won by 3-1.
In the second semi, Liam Aldridge fought back from 2 legs down to force a deciding leg against Ray Mulvey but Ray produced the goods in the last leg to progress.
The final was an epic and David stormed into a 2-0 lead but with the local support behind him, Ray produced some superb darts to force a decider and checked out on 120 to take the win. Thanks to Colm for his sponsorship and food provided and his help throughout the year and the one and only Pauline Crosbie who as always ran proceedings smoothly.
With just one, very important round robin event left which will take place in Lock 17 on October 23, with a possible 36 plus points on offer for each player, it is all to play for at the bottom of the rankings to see who will make the final cut and secure their place on the county team for the All Irelands in Ennis in February.
Looking forward to a large turnout for what will be a tense day of darts in Lock 17 with the announcement of the county team at the end of the day’s proceedings.
