National Bike Week was launched in 2009 to raise the profile of cycling as a healthy and fun mode of transport and physical activity. Bike Week 2018 will take place from Saturday to Sunday June 9 to 17.
Leitrim County Council in partnership with Leitrim Sports Partnership is currently inviting applications from community groups (see below) for funding to assist with the organisation of a cycling themed event during Bike Week which will take place from June 9 to 17 and is funded by the Department of Transport.
The types of groups which may apply are community groups, voluntary organisations, schools, sports clubs, active retirement groups, community childcare service providers, workplaces or any group that wishes to organise a bike related event on a ‘not for profit basis’ during Bike Week 2018.
Bike Week is an opportunity for people to get back on the saddle – for commuting or for recreation or just for the sheer joy of it! There are many different activities organised all around the County this year during Bike Week 2018 including:
- Cycling Schools Sports Day
- Schools Cycles & Cycling Fun Sports Days
- Bike Maintenance & Safety Workshops
- Trail Cycle & Bike Skills events
- School cycle and Arts competitions
- And lots more!!
All groups must completed the application forms and post it in before the closing date for the applications which is 4 pm on Friday May 11, to the following address, Leitrim Sports Partnership, c/o Leitrim County Council, Áras an Chontae, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim.
