Fundraiser: Our Horseracing fundraiser takes place in Drumcura City Equestrian Saloon next Sunday at 10, at least 20 races on the card incl, the feature race the Drumcura City Gold Cup.

Timmy Winters is chief stewart for the night and Tommy Kirwan tells me there will be a celebrity auctioneer for the Auction Race. Also a number of well known bookmakers will attend. Darts start at 7.30 to facilatate the horseracing. There will also be a buffett on the night, should be a good nights craic.

Thanks to all who have returned their cards, everyone with outstanding cards please return to Christy Shortt 086-8103893 or Robert at 086-8889372 on or before Wednesday to facilatate the printing of race programmes.

Carrick Taxies: The seventh round took place in Shortts on Sunday and two newcomers joined the leader board, Gene Connolly as runners-up and Brendan Berine as quarter-finalists. E McDermott Junior added one point to his total with a quarter-final place.

Liam Aldridge came out on top making it five wins, one runners-up and one quarter-final, it is the sort of consistency the rest of us must try to achieve. Well done Liam.

With Liam sure of first place there is a great battle taking place for the remaining seven spots on finals night. With three points for a win, two for runners-up and one for quarter-final, it is all to play for in the final round in Drumcura Saloon on Sunday night.

So we’re hoping for a big turnout for both the darts and the horse racing. Once again please note the early start for the darts check in 7.30, play starts 8pm.

Finally thanks to the Shortt family for their sponsorship and excellent refreshments last Sunday and well done to T.P. Keane, winner of our pick a double fundraiser.
