Ladies Section: Kelly’s SuperValu: We’re looking forward to dinner at Brenda Kelly’s this week as her 40 pts secures First place. In second it’s Renee Dolan (37 pts) with Gross going to Phil Emmet.

Club Outing: Captains Ollie Curran and Dolores Mulvey have a smashing day planned for us, and all for only €50 on October 5. Golf at Roscommon Golf Club at 10.30 followed by meal in Cryan’s Carrick on Shannon at 7.30. To book your place please contact Chris, Ollie or Dolores by Monday, September 30.

Men’s Senior Section: With the weather turning to our advantage we had a good turnout to the magnificent Slieve Russell Golf Club. The winner with an excellent card of 38 pts was Bobby Donaldson with Peter Feely runner-up and Josie Murray in 3rd spot. Sincere thanks to all who travelled. Back to domestics and last week’s winner was Tony McPhilips who spreadeagled the field with a super card of 45 pts. Runner-up was Tom Daly with 40 pts with Ken Moran with 37 pts in third place. The nines in Cavan were won by J.P Corney and Carrick native Brendan Murray. This Thursday we have the final major with the Tommy Kelly up for grabs. A full turnout would be appreciated. See you all at usual time.


18 Hole Stroke Open: Adrian Gallogly who prevailed as winner with a fine score of 68 nett. Ollie Moran finished as runner-up, did not get cut but he did cut Adrian, who lost 2.5 shots. In third was Michael McMorrow on 73. This competition was sponsored by Appliance Solutions.

V-Par Competition: A 18 hole V-par competition runs throughout the week until Friday.

Seniors: The Seniors club are hosting a huge open day on Tuesday, October 8, at Ballinamore Golf Club. Seniors are encouraged to bring along a non- senior playing partner for the day. A day not to be missed. Contact Gerry Mahon for the time sheet at 0719644031 or 087 7678392.

Captain’s Prize: Our Captain’s Prize was held in the Slieve Russell Golf and Country Club on Saturday. Congratulations to Vincent McMorrow on winning for the second year in a row. Congratulations to Chris Fahey on winning the high handicap and Kathleen Loftus on winning the Ladies. Results: 1st Vincent McMorrow, 2nd Colm Griffin, 3rd Aiden McKeon, High Handicap: 1st Chris Fahey, 2nd F. Mulvey, 3rd D. Doyle, Ladies K. Loftus, 2nd B. Travers, Front nine J. Wynne, Back nine J. Morgan, Nearest the pin Vincent McMorrow Longest Drive men John Morgan, Longest Drive women Carmel Smith. Thank you to Jenny McGloin for the beautiful food we had on the night in Monica’s. After the day’s prizes were presented, the major prizes were awarded. Congratulations to Jason Loftus on winning the Matchplay, Colm Griffin on Golfer of the Year, Chris Fahey on the High Handicap and BReda Travers on the Ladies Overall. A special presentation was made to Breda Travers and Brid O’Sullivan on their great win in the Daily Mail All Ireland Fourball. Thank you also to Kevin Costello who organised the betting book of the day.

Weekend Away: Mary Lynch and Breda Travers have organised an excellent weekend away to Castlebar on October 12/13, with two nights B&B, two rounds of golf and dinner. Anyone wishing to go is asked to give Mary, Breda or Kathleen Loftus €30 by this weekend.

Classic: We hope to hold our usual Classic on Saturday, October 19, in Ballinamore Golf Club. Three Ball Scramble, shot-gun start, entry fee €90 per team.

Slieve Russell

Results: 18 Hole Stableford: Winner: Brendan McGowan 43 pts, runner-up: Theo Coffey 40pts.

Castle Dargan

Cup competitions: All participants in the Darren Clarke Cup, Castle Dargan Cup, Council Cup and Club Fourball are asked to complete their remaining matches as soon as possible.
